The history of domestication cats is much later than dogs. In seven thousand BC, at that time, due to the prosperity of agriculture, the "Crescent Moon -shaped rice granary" area was formed in the Middle East. The emergence of home, barn and grain shops provides a new living environment for mouse and other small mammals, and these animals are exactly the ideal prey of small wild cats. From the beginning, people and cats have established mutual benefit: cats have obtained a rich source of food, and humans exempt from the troubles of nasty rodents. Initially, the existence of these wild cats may be accepted or encouraged by humans, and they are thrown to some foods from time to time. Just like a wolf, some of the more tamed wild cats are gradually absorbed into human society, which has produced the earliest semi -domesticated cat group. This cats must be almost descendants of small wild cats in Europe, Africa and South Asia. In this vast area, countless wild cat subsidiaries have been evolved according to the local environment and climate conditions. Studies have found that their appearance is different. The European wild cats living in the north are stout, short -ears, thick -skinned; African wild cats are more slender, long -ear, long legs; and Asian wild cats living in the south Bring spots.
African wild cats
It studies have found that 5500 years ago, China had its own cat -breed variety! Animals are actually the close to Asian leopard cats! This study pointed out that "domesticated" cats appeared in different regions in the world at least twice -and two different types of cats appeared. The cat's skeleton was unearthed in the site where the ancient agricultural civilization settled in Shaanxi Province, northern China in 2001. These bones can be traced back to 3000 to 3500 BC. In order to determine which cat family these bones are derived from whether these bones belong to Western domesticated cat varieties, scientists have adopted a research method for the analysis of the name and geometric morphology.
The scientists analyzed the upper jaws of five types of cat bones in Shanxi and Henan Province. These five types of cat bones can be traced back to 3500 to 2900 BC. All the cat bones that are excavated are leopard cats. This is a kind of fellow cat has a similar size but a slightly long leg and a slightly small head, and still lives in the wild in most parts of Asia. This cats are the "distant relatives" of Western wild cats, which are well known because they often appear in a strong area. Researchers found that cats and humans began to live together with the development of agriculture. The reason may be that both have discovered their benefits in cats' "grabbing mice".
